A brief visit to Himalyan Kothi Kais “Manali, Himachal Pradesh”

As an avid traveller and nature lover, I have always been fascinated by the Himalayas and the unique lifestyle of the people living there. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Himalyan Kothi Kais, a homestay based out of Manali in Himachal Pradesh. I must say, my stay there was an experience of a lifetime.

Located on the Kais Jana road, near the world-famous Kais Buddhist Monastery, the homestay is situated in the small village of Manjdhari in Kullu valley. The moment I entered the place, I was taken aback by its beauty and serenity. The cottage is built in Katkhuni architecture, the most exclusive form of architecture in the Himalayas, and is made of wood and stone only, which makes it stand out from other structures in the region.

I was greeted with warm hospitality by the hosts, who made me feel right at home. The experience was truly immersive as I got to witness the life of a Pahari firsthand. I spent my days exploring the surrounding villages, learning about the local culture and traditions, and indulging in the delicious local cuisine.

The homestay is away from the crowds, and one can truly appreciate the peace and quiet of the place. The view from the cottage is breathtaking, with snow-capped mountains in the distance and lush greenery all around. The host was kind enough to arrange a trek to the nearby hills, which was a truly unforgettable experience.

The location is rich in festival celebrations, and I was lucky enough to be there during the Kullu Dusshera festival, a mela of international level where the blessings of gods, goddesses, and demons come together to shower their blessings on every person who is part of the festivities. I got to witness the traditional dance performances, parades, and processions, which was a truly mesmerising experience.

Overall, my three-day stay at Himalyan Kothi Kais was a unique and unforgettable experience. The warm hospitality of the hosts, the beauty of the place, and the immersive experience of the Pahari lifestyle made it a trip that I will always cherish. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone who wants to experience the true essence of the Himalayas and the warmth of its people.
